Flying High Again!

Saturday, I went with Josh for his first flying lesson.  It was exciting and terrifying all at the same time!

Whenever I'm on an airplane, I keep my eyes on the the flight attendants.  They are in the air all the time and they know what is normal and what insn't.  If we hit some turbulance, I watch them and if they acting normal then I don't worry.

Saturday, I had no idea what was going on.  Joshua and his instructor were talking a language that I didn't understand.  When we took off, I thought I thought I was going throw up.  The plane is basically the size of a small car with wings.

When we would turn, it felt like the plane was going to flip over.  At one point, I was looking straight down at the ground.

When we landed, I didn't want to act scared, but we were actually coming in to the runway crooked!

But niether Josh or his instructor, ever looked phased or concerned.

That's because they knew what they were doing. They understood it.  They knew what was normal.

(BTW, it is normal to land "crooked" because of the crosswind)

I had a choice to make.

I could either worry the whole time about things I didn't understand and couldn't control.  Or I could trust that they knew what they were doing and would get me back to earth in one peice.

The same goes for our relationship with God.

There are many times I don't understand the course He is plotting or the twists and turns of the journey, but I know that He knows where we are going and how to get there.

Solomon wrote to his sons:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." (Prov 3:5-6)

Is He your pilot?  Do you trust Him? Even when the landing looks "crooked?"
